This post is so interesting – both the story of the defense of Changde and seeing Master Yim’s work in progress. I really enjoyed his commentary of how he came to develop these sketches and painting and find it really helpful. I was also shocked that the Red Guard would destroy a monument of such importance and deep meaning to the people of China – it helps me to understand a little more how destructive those times must have been, although there is nothing in my own experience to help me comprehend what it would have meant to live through such times. Thanks once again for sharing this process.
